Item Description
Beryl is one of the more abundant gem mineral, found around the world in almost every color of the rainbow. Here we have a classic soft blue colored Brazilian Aquamarine with an "Oval Brilliant" cut and very very slight inclusions. The American Gem Society states on their website that Aquamarine got its name from "Roman fishermen {who called} the gemstone “water of the sea” and used it as protection, for safe travel by boat, and for luck in catching fish. Aquamarine was linked to the apostle St. Thomas who frequently traveled by boat. Roman physicians also used it to treat overeating and bloating". This is a decent size stone for a pendant if you so wish, but it would also stand alone as a nice little single stone in a gem box. Aquamarine is also the birthstone for March, so this would make a nice gift for someone with a March birthday.
