Apophyllite with Stilbite (unusual locale) (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Please note that this specimen was labeled as only coming from Minas Gerais, but it could certainly be from Rio Grando do Sul. The state of Minas Gerais is well known for gem pegmatite species, but we don't often think of zeolites and associated species like those common found in the Deccan Trappe in India. This piece is a lovely display specimen featuring sharp, sparkling, gemmy, colorless, thick, tabular crystals of Apophyllite measuring up to 6 mm on peach colored Stilbite matrix. The Stilbite are mostly incomplete, but there are some small areas showing defined crystal faces. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
