Item Description
Emplaced aesthetically on a matrix of basalt sprinkled with a druse of sparkly, slightly-colored quartz, are several glassy and gemmy, colorless crystals of fluorapophyllite. They are superbly formed and the whole cluster is capped by an incredible, doubly terminated fluorapophyllite crystal measuring a whopping 9.3 cm across. That gemmy crystal is pristine. The small crystal poking up from its middle has a tiny ding on its tip, but otherwise this cluster is complete all around. As an added bonus, there are a few, doubly-terminated, pearlescent, stilbite crystals, to 1.3 cm across, scattered over the specimen; and a nice rhombohedral calcite perched right in the middle for contrast of form. Indian apophyllite certainly is common enough on the market, but this is nevertheless quite a special piece for its stark geometry and display quality. Comes with a custom-made and engraved lucite base valued at $150, for free. Valued $2000 in an auction of his specimens from 2008. From the large Indian minerals suite of the Daniel Trinchillo Sr. Collection.
