Item Description

An aesthetic specimen from this historic, old iron mining complex started in 1732. A few lovely "rosettes" of Apophyllite with brilliant faces are partially coated with green chlorite microcrystals. Excellent and rare material from this old locale. The largest "rosette" group measures 2.2 cm across. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6413). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
