Item Description

A hard to find specimen of Apophyllite from Murdochville featuring sharp, well-formed, thick tabular crystals with a pearly luster and a silvery colored interior - with a white exterior - measuring up to 7 mm on matrix. The piece is a in superb shape overall and I really can't see any damage from the display side. This material is virtually impossible to locate on the market, and the mine has been closed since 2002 (it opened in 1955) and if you collect Canadian minerals, unusually colored species or general Apophyllites, don't miss out on this one. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5469). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
