Item Description
Excellent specimen of Apophyllite from the Clinty Quarry in Northern Ireland, where mineralization is infrequent, at best. The Apophyllite crystals are tabular, sharp, slightly modified, and up to 1.1 cm on edge. These milky-white crystals have superb luster, and in sculptural fashion they sit up edgewise on the zeolite and basalt matrix. For shooting white on white, the photos show the piece well, but in person the balanced and dramatic orientation of the crystals on this high-quality miniature presents even better. Recently deaccessed from the Tim Sherburn collection.
