Apophyllite specimens of any quality are very rare and desirable from the famous copper mines of Houghton County. This is an extremely rich, showy and outstanding example. Water-clear, sparkling, gem-like, tabular, apophyllite crystals in spherical aggregates totally cover the sculptural, undulating matrix plate. This is undoubtably old-time and classic material. Superb and rare for the species and locality. It is probably from the Isle Royale Mine. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection. Valued at $750-900.
