Item Description
This is a group of sharp, highly lustrous, and blocky white Apophyllite crystals up to 1 cm. The Apophyllites rest on Gyrolite, and there may even possibly be some Mesolite and Thompsonite in the matrix, all on basalt matrix. These excellent Apophyllites are gemmy to translucent, and the high luster really helps emphasize the beveled edges and modified corners. Classic Apophyllites! Collected by Mike Wood in 1996, this is an aesthetic miniature from Scotland. Recently deaccessed from the Tim Sherburn collection. Tim specialized in trading, collecting, and buying Scottish minerals and travelled there himself for acquisition.
