Item Description

Apophyllite is a signature and desirable accessory species from the historic mines at St Andreasberg. Glassy, gemmy to translucent colorless crystals, to about 8 mm, are festooned on the sculptural thin argillaceous schist matrix. Comes with two old labels and was formerly in the Falkenhorst Collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 3535 and acquired from Scott Williams as a gift in April, 1964. Kay assembled a nice suite of classics and rarities from this famed district. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017).
