Item Description

Glassy, transparent to tranlucent, tabular apophylllite crystals to 1.6 cm fill a vug in this rich and showy old-timer from this historic iron mining district. The French Creek Mines started in about 1720 and finally closed in 1928. Such fine apophyllites are quite uncommon today. Ex Florian Cajori Collection.
