Apophyllite (ex Dr. Miguel Romero Collection)

Back in the day when Miguel purchased this specimen in the 1970s, it was probably considered a very impressive and worthwhile Apophyllite on a worldwide scale. 40 years ago these were the best green Apophyllites in the world when they were discovered, and were highly prized by collectors. Since that time, they have been passed by even better quality green Apophyllites from India, but this piece is a bit of a time capsule to remind collectors that a specimen like this was a big deal years ago. Sharp, lustrous, gemmy, mint green colored prismatic crystals of Apophyllite meausuring up to 2.4 cm have formed "sprays" on matrix with associated gemmy bladed white Stilbite.
