Apophyllite and Stilbite (Smale Coll.)

A 4.0 cm, beautifully gemmy and lustrous, doubly terminated, mint-green, apophyllite crystal is the stunning focal point of this aesthetic and excellent combination specimen from Jalgaon and the Steve Smale Collection. The blocky basalt matrix and the apophyllite crystals are studded with with pearlescent, stilbite blades on an earlier generation of tiny stilbite blades. Very fine, essentially pristine combination material from this noted locale. Steve is renowned for his taste, aesthetics and lack of specimen damage. He never collected less than very high quality material. This is a distinct find from around 1985, give or take. The combination and habits are completely characteristic of this desirable find.
