Item Description

A sculptural and very showy 360-degree mounded small cabinet apophyllite and stilbite combination from Jalgaon. The numerous glassy and lustrous colorless tetragonal apophyllite crystals have striking water-clear chisel terminations above translucent bodies. These impressive crystals reach 3.5 cm. Pearlescent light tan stilbite blades are aesthetically set on one side of the piece and add color and contrast. A doubly terminated bowtie is 3.1 cm across. From the worldwide mineral collection of Albert Lewis Kidwell (January 1, 1919 - August 16, 2008). Al was a well-known mineral collector and research geologist with Carter Oil Company and later Exxon Oil Company in Houston, Texas. The phosphate species Kidwellite was named in his honor in 1974.
