Item Description
Aphrosiderite is an obsolete name for a Chlorite Group member (originally described from a mine in Germany). This is a fine pair of aphrosiderite coating sharp almandine garnet crystals from the iron mines of Marquette County, Michigan (probably 1950s or earlier). The crystals have textbook dodecahedral garnet crystal habit and moderate sparkly luster. Small dings on the back side reveal the underlying glassy reddish-brown almandines. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection.
