Item Description
This piece comes labeled as being found at Indian Lake, New York. I can't find any info in any database that mentions these specimens, but I have to believe it was found at least in the area of Indian Lake. If anybody out there has some information as to the origin of this specimen, please let us know. A sharp, lustrous, prismatic, hexagonal Apatite crystal with a gorgoues blue color measures 1.0 cm is partially frozen and exposed in the white Calcite matrix. The crystal is not terminated, as the exposed end is contacted, but I have to believe there's a termination on the end of the crystal buried below the surface. A cool reference piece for any collector of East Coast minerals or specifically minerals of New York state. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9491). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
