Apatite from Afghanistan is fairly rare in gem form, and is becoming more and more difficult to find as the best deposits for the material produce less rough these days. Apatite comes in virtually color of the rainbow, but oddly, it's rare to find completely COLORLESS gems like this. This might be the largest colorless Apatite that we've had from Afghanistan, and it's fine quality to boot. The clarity is virtually eye clean, and considering that the majority of these stones rarely approach 1 carat in weight (even with inclusions), this is an impressive stone for Afghanistan since it weighs well over 4 carats!
