Item Description
I certainly have never seen a piece of this material prior to this specimen. A layered group of resinous Talc crystals (which show a lovely seafoam green hue when strongly backlit) play host to a couple of sharp, well-formed, lustrous, hexagonal crystals of Apatite measuring up to 9 mm and showing an odd silvery-tan color. I can't remember seeing Apatite crystals in / on Talc like this from any locality let alone a locality in the Austrian Alps. The given locality for this specimen was "Hohe Happ", but I can't find a listing for this specific locality in any database. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5987). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
