Item Description

Fine, tabular, off-white Apatite crysatal from South Tyrol. This hexagonal Apatite is gemmy to translucent, with sharp, beveled edges and very good luster, especially on the termination. At 1.3 cm across, the size is respectable for the locality, and the crystal is softly fluorescenent, which is indicative of Apatites. In this case, it is pinkish-white rather than the more typical yellow. The Apatite is nestles in a layer of Mica crystals that completely covers this one side of the matrix. A very good, cladsic piece for the region. Originally acquired from Julius Bohm of Vienna. These pieces are part of a century-old Italian collection that was recently acquired.
