Item Description
A wonderful purple Apatite specimen from Afghanistan. Apatite is found in wide array of colors, but the most desirable hue for the mineral is purple. This piece features a predominant, sharp, well-formed, tabular, translucent, beautiful rich purple color hexagonal crystal of Apatite measuring 1.5 cm, with a few smaller accessory Apatites on Feldspar matrix. If you look at the side of the piece, you can see a single prismatic black Tourmaline crystal, and there is also a "cast" where a previous Tourmaline crystal once grew. You rarely see such well-formed and lustrous purple crystals from any locality, let alone crystals on matrix like this. This one is not etched or "rough" on the exterior. Classic gem pegmatite material from Afghanistan. Good crystallized purple Apatites are not that common on the market.
