Item Description
A very rarely seen specimen of Apatite (most likely Fluorapatite) from the Rössing Mountains Area of Erongo, Namibia. Several beautiful blue colored hexagonal prismatic crystals measuring up to 1.2 cm are embedded in the surrounding host rock matrix. Unfortunately, none of the Apatites are completely terminated, so it's more of a reference specimen than anything, but it's one of only a handful of these old specimens (dating back circa 40-50 years) that I've seen in my life. If you're a fan of worldwide Apatites, I'll bet you don't have one of these in your collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11059). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record ( https://www.mineralogicalrecord.com/pdfs/Kay%20Robertson%20Collection.pdf ), and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017.
