Item Description
Panasqueira is one of the more classic "modern" European localities. Although the area is defunct, it produced some amazing specimens about 40 years ago. It is certainly one of the most distinctive localities in the world and it has produced some amazing Apatite specimens. This piece features several, sharp, lustrous, GEM to translucent, hexagonal, green color Apatite crystals measuring up to 2.7 cm which are aesthetically sitting atop Quartz crystals coated by Siderite and Arsenopyrite. Some of the Apatite crystals actually show a slight "cat's eye" effect when rotated in the light, and others are so gemmy, that they are water clear. The piece is in decent shape, depsite some slight rough spots, but is an incredibly aesthetic specimen from this well-known mining district. The piece can be displayed from a few angles, and these specimens are simply not seen on the market these days. Valued at $1250-$1500 retail.
