Item Description
Panasqueira is one of the more classic "modern" European localities. Although the area is defunct, it produced some amazing specimens about 40 years ago. It is certainly one of the most distinctive localities in the world and it has produced some amazing Apatite specimens. This piece features several excellent quality, very sharp, lustrous, translucent, hexagonal, blue color Apatite crystals measuring up to 2.2 cm which are sitting atop minor Pyrite, Siderite and Quartz. The Apatite crystals actually show a color change from a blue shade under halogen lighting to a green hue under fluorescent mercury bulbs. The piece is in great shape on the display side and it's a very attractive specimen from this well-known mining district. The piece can be displayed from a few angles, and these specimens are simply not seen on the market these days. valued at $700-$850 retail.
