Item Description

A classic purple Apatite specimen from the famous Harvard Quarry (Noyes Mountain Quarry) in Maine. Several sharp, lustrous, translucent, beautiful purple color hexagonal crystals of Apatite up to 5 mm sitting on/in beige Cookeite with associated green Elbaite Tourmaline. This quarry is probably second to famous Pulsifer Quarry for purple Apatites from Maine. Most collectors will say that purple is the most sought after color for Apatite, and good specimens from Maine are nearly impossible to find these days. From the collection of noted Colorado geologist, Allen Heyl for whom the phosphate Aheylite was named.
