Item Description

From the find in late Fall of 2005. Here is a great, classic locality specimen of Apatite from Bolivia. This small cabinet size piece features a few highly sought after, relatively sharp, pale pink, tabular crystals of Apatite measuring up to 2.0 cm with gem quality Quartz prisms and "rosette" of tan Siderite. Honestly, the largest crystal on the piece was broken and rehealed, so the large complete crystal measure 1.5 cm. It must be noted that Apatite specimens from Siglo XX are very difficult to obtain, and this piece was mined in the old, historic Contacto vein in the mine that produced some of the finest phosphate specimens from Siglo XX in the 1940's and 1950's. This material is rarely seen in today's market and it is one of the few matrix Apatite specimens I've had from this mine in the auctions. Arguably one of the best pieces of this material that we've offered in the auctions as well. This material has not been seen in many, many years.
