VERY RARE and statuesque old-time small cabinet combination from the Rodman Mountains of San Bernardino County. Neither Apatite or Calcite are listed by mindat for the range. Parallel-growth and opposing "smokestacks" of hexagonal brown apatite crystals dramatically dominate the crest of the piece. Dense clusters of lustrous, translucent calcite rhombs very aesthetically accent the apatites. The impressive large smokestack is 3.6 cm tall. The label probably dates from the 1950s to 70s. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. Simply an exceptional and artistic, perhaps UNIQUE, combination from the locale. A MUST for the species or locality collector.
