Item Description
A beautiful, old-time, hard to find small cabinet specimen of the classic Apatites from the Otjua Mine in Namibia. You just don't see these on the market these days, and this particular piece has a color combo that I haven't seen before from this locale. The piece hosts sharp, translucent, purple and green tabular crystals of Apatite measuring up to 2.2 cm sitting on Quartz matrix. The main Apatite crystal is not complete all the way around, but it's actually re-crystallized on the back, so it's not damaged. There are only a few minor nicks that I can see with the naked eye, but the excellent aesthetics, color and quality makes for a truly worthwhile and desirable specimen for any fan of Apatite or Namibian minerals. Priced in the inventory at $1,200. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12465). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
