Apatite

Apatite from Afghanistan is becoming more and more difficult to find as the best deposit for the material dried up years ago, and the material is only being found in small sporadic areas. I don't see many stones OVER 5 carats from virtually any locality these days, and this is one of the better gems I've seen in terms of quality. The stone has a lovely pale lilac color (nearly colorless in the photos, but there is a distinct pale lilac hue in person). It is rather clean, with only very very slight inclusions, and considering that the majority of these stones rarely approach 3 carats in weight (even with inclusions), this is a significant stone for this area. Priced at $1,084.00 retail in the inventory.
