Item Description

A great, classic locality specimen of Apatite from Bolivia. This piece features a few relatively sharp, translucent, colorless to pale pink, fairly thick, tabular hexagonal crystals of Apatite measuring up to 3.2 cm across on matrix. Apatite specimens on matrix from Siglo XX are very difficult to obtain, and this material was recently mined in the old, historic Contacto vein in the mine that produced some of the finest phosphate specimens from Siglo XX in the 1940's and 1950's. This material is rarely seen in today's market and it is one of the few matrix Apatite specimens I've had to offer from this mine. This material has not been seen in a long time! From a find in late Fall of 2010.
