Item Description
A RARE, rich, old-time solid two-sided vein of lustrous emerald-green and dark green fibrous antlerite from this renowned open pit copper mine, the world's largest. Antlerite is an uncommon hydroxyl Cu-sulfate with some of the world's finest specimens coming from Chuqui. Specimens of this richness and quality are seldom on the market. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 1612. This is a low collection number, dating to the 1950s or earlier. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Valued $500-700 for richness and quality.
