Item Description

A rarely seen specimen of Antlerite from this former uranium / copper mine in that was discovered in 1943. This cabinet specimen features a rich coverage of beautiful emerald green Antlerite - mostly in the form of brilliant micro crystals and vitreous globular groups associated with dark grey-black Chalcocite and a bit of dark reddish-black Cuprite. Additionally, we found a tiny blue "curl" of what we believe to be Chalcanthite flaring out of the Antlerite (first photo). The piece looks beautiful under magnification and is a wonderful example of this elusive and eye-catching material.  From the collection of Gary Weaver of Prescott, Arizona (1944-2019). Gary was an electrical engineer who worked for many years for Hughes Aircraft in California. You can read Gary's obituary here https://www.dcourier.com/news/...
