Antlerite (rare fine crystals)

Item Description

Antlerite is a well-known, fairly rare copper sulfate mineral, and some of the best example are those from the Chuquicamata Mine in Chile. This robust cabinet specimen features many excellent, very lustrous, sharp, well-formed, prismatic crystals of a deep emerald green hue measuring up to about 4 mm, sitting on matrix. The crystals formed as a seam filling, so there are spots on this specimen where the are not fully crystallized as they grew against both sides of the seam, but there are many stellar examples that can be seen with magnification, and we've done our best to illustrate them in the macro photos. It's RARE to find such hefty cabinet sized display pieces of this material, and the piece was originally valued at $1,000 on the old Zigras label, but I could honestly see it going for more in today's market due to the impressive size of the piece.
