Antlerite (historic specimen) (1938 Expedition)

A fantastic old-time Antlerite specimen from the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences dating back nearly 90 years ago found during the 1938 expedition in Chile. Antlerite is a well-known, fairly rare copper sulfate species, and some of the best examples ever found are those from the Chuquicamata Mine in Chile. This small cabinet specimen features lustrous, striated crystals of a deep emerald green hue measuring up to about 2-3 mm, sitting on matrix. The piece is best viewed under magnification, and we've done our best to illustrate the quality with the macro photos (there is some roughness in areas), but it's still an important piece from one of the most significant East Coast institutions in the United States.
