Anhydrite with Calcite (Belsky Coll.)

Item Description

Naica is known to have produced some outstanding anhydrite specimens and this is an very fine and rare combination example. The dramatic and pristine front is composed of striking, separated, parallel-growth, translucent blades with pretty light, ice-blue color. The back is another story! The parallel-growth blades are totally covered with sparkly, gray to colorless calcite microcrystals and smaller anhydrite blades. Classic, highly representative and rare material for the species and famed locale. I have not often seen an anydrite with accessory calcite. Ex Howard Belsky Collection.
