Item Description

A very hard to find Anglesite from Kellogg, Idaho (this is the only information given on the label), but I'm certain that it's from the lesser known Last Chance Mine and not the more commonly known Bunker Hill Mine. There is a similar specimen posted on mindat.org for reference (https://www.mindat.org/photo-217317.html). This miniature specimen hosts a few sharp, VERY gemmy, colorless, thin, prismatic "sword"-shaped crystals of Anglesite measuring up to 9 mm sitting atop silvery-grey Galena matrix. No major damage that I can see with the naked eye. If you collect secondary ore minerals, or specifically specimens from Idaho, you can't afford to miss out on this one as they are virtually impossible to obtain on the market. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9258) with a note on the back of the label that states it was acquired from the Carl Fair collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
