Item Description

A rather hard to find specimen of Anglesite from the famous Grand Reef Mine in Arizona, best known for its secondary ore minerals. This piece features several sharp, well-formed, gemmy, colorless orthorhombic crystals measuring up to 4 mm sitting in a Quartz-lines vug in host rock matrix. The crystals look fantastic up close, and we've photographed them with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. If you collect secondary ore minerals or specimens from Arizona, pieces like this are notably absent from the market and haven't been found for many decades from this long defunct locality.
From the collection of Colorado mining legend, Dave Bergman. Dave is now retired from mining, but was formerly the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s, and the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar. See Dave's photo mining at the Sweet Home on page 58 of Peter Bancroft's book "Gem and Crystal Treasures".
