Item Description
Classsic, rich and showy old small cabinet combination from one of the famous mines at Bingham. The sculptural 360-degree mounded specimen is richly covered with micro Anglesite crystals partially pseudomorphing cubic Galena crystals to 1.1 cm and classic Bingham, translucent, greenish-gray to green Fluorite cubes, to 1.1 cm, with satin lustre faces. The bottom of the piece shows the unaltered splendent metallic Galena and the green Fluorite cubes. Formerly in the Kay Robertson Collection # 3643 and acquired in the mid-1960s. Kay (1920-2020) was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011. Purple fluorite fluorescence. Choice old-time combination pseudomorph material from the locale.
