Item Description

Lustrous, translucent, colorless to oxide-included, blocky anglesite crystals to 1.0 cm are aesthetically scattered in a vug on this showy and excellent old-time specimen from the famous Wheatley Mine. Specimens of this quality date to the mid-1800s, as primary ore production was from 1847-54! The sawed back of the piece reveals that the hefty matrix is iridescent, massive chalcopyrite. Classic, fine and uncommon material from this renowned, early American locale. Ex George Elling Collection and comes with an old handwritten label seemingly dated 1893. Valued at $500.
