Item Description

The famous Monteponi Mine in Italy is one of the great historic lead mines in Europe. This mine is renowned for its world-class specimens of minerals like Phosgenite, Smithsonite and Anglesite. Here we have a beautiful example of these classic and now hard to find Anglesites featuring very sharp, highly lustrous, translucent, white, orthorhombic crystals of Anglesite on Galena matrix. The largest crystal measures 1.0 cm long. These are truly iconic specimens, and certainly among the top examples of the species from any European locality. If you collect secondary ore minerals, lead minerals or you just like Anglesite as a species, this is one that would make a great addition to your collection. Very good condition all around, no major damage, just some minor imperfections. The 2014 article in the Mineralogical Record details this amazing locality.
Ex Les Presmyk (De Natura) specimen.
