Anglesite

This is a gorgeous, robust and shockingly heavy "gem lead" Anglesite crystal with incredible, rich yellow color; and it comes from the most famous finds of the species in the early 1980s! This big, beautiful gemmy crystal is super lustrous, lightly striated on the prism faces and with mirror like reflectivity on the pyramid faces. It is not just glassy - this is more than glassy, and hard to convey by photo, but it is more like slick window glass after a fresh polish, in luster. This is TOP sparkle combined with TOP color...and in a good size. They are almost never available on the market today. At least 80% of this crystal is gem with some minor internal fractures (when we say "gem" in this case, we literally mean there are cut gemstones to be had by breaking this up - there are rich gem zones within). When lit, it looks like an even more brilliant yellow leaded glass with tremendous luster and an internal sparkle to it. Not all anglesites have the brightness both within, and on the surface. Many are bright and shiny outside, and yet lifeless within! This substantial crystal measures 4.3 x 3.8 x 2.4 cm and is complete save a few areas where it was intergrown with some Galena. Also, there is a small, 1 cm Cerussite at the lower right for added interest. These big, gemmy singles are incredibly rare, and this one has a mass of 143.9 grams so it is quite hefty!
