Item Description

Andrewsite is a discredited mineral species (Dunn, 1990) and was found to be a mixture of hentschelite and rockbridgeite - iron phosphates. Brownish-orange to green spherules line a vug on gossan matrix from this well-known Cornwall mine, where this material was first described in 1871. It is very rare worldwide. From an unknown museum or university and purchased from Arthur Montgomery, well-known American mineralogist, mineral collector and dealer, educator and philanthropist in 1940.
