Item Description

The Stanley area in Arizona is famous for producing these distinctive and beautiful green Andradite Garnets, which is not a species that most people think of when it comes to Arizona minerals. The vast majority of the specimens from this area ONLY feature Andradite, but this one has an uncommon Quartz association, featuring a 5.2 cm, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, colorless prismatic hexagonal crystal aesthetically flaring out of a matrix loaded with textbook, euhedral dodecahedrons measuring up to a few mm across, which show a rich greenish-golden hue when backlit. The Garnets have a reflective matte luster and nearly all of them are undamaged. This is certainly one of the showiest examples we've had to offer from the locality, as the Quartz is arguably the focal point of the piece, and you don't see a lot of pieces where Quartz is highlighted like this one. A cool association piece (with very little damage) for any fan of worldwide Garnets, or minerals from Arizona.
Valued $1,500.
