Item Description
Scintillating, sharp Andradite variety Topazolite Garnets are festooned on both sides of this extremely rich two-sided small cabinet from San Benito County. The gemmy/translucent dodecahedrons, to 7 mm, are classic golden-yellow to golden-brown. They are so named for their color and transparency resembling Topaz. The well-known New Idria District Hg-Cr-Mg-gemstone mining area is famous for Topazolite, Cinnabar and is the Type Locality for Benitoite, the California State Gemstone. This extremely rich and fine two-sided piece is probably from the Yellow Cat Mine, but there is no specific mine listed on the label. Valued at $1000 for quality and richness.
