Item Description

A hard to find "locality" Garnet specimen featuring dozens of small, jet-black, lustrous, dodecahedral Andradite var: Melanite crystals on matrix from this lesser known asbestos mine Italy. The largest crystal is about 3 mm across, and this is more of a reference piece for a Garnet collector or an Alpine mineral collector. The piece comes from the famous Alpine collection of Rich Kosnar, who obtained it from the former editor of Rivista Mineralogica Italiana, Erberto Tealdi. Please note that the specimen is repaired - broken in half and glued back together.
