Item Description
A classic representative example of the well-known black Melanite Garnets (a variety of Andradite) from the New Idria District in San Benito County, California. This small cabinet sized piece hosts a few very sharp, lustrous, well-formed dodecahedral crystals measuring up to 1.0 cm, sitting on matrix. A bit of dark green colored chloritic schist can be seen on the piece as well. These crystals are larger than most you'll see from the area, and despite the fact that some of them are not complete, the main crystal is in great shape and looks great in person.
