Item Description
Recently, there was a discovery of some of outstanding quality Demantoid Garnets in Madagascar. A contrasting mix of amber and green modified dodecahedral and trapezohedral crystals of both Demantoid and Topazolite on a thin layer of metamorphosed sedimentary rock matrix. The crystals have excellent luster and gemminess with attractive striations on the otherwise smooth faces. Great condition overall, with only a very slight amount of damage near the periphery where it detached from the matrix. I cannot say for certain if there will be more of these pieces, but this is a great opportunity for Garnet collectors to purchase a fine quality specimen of this highly sought after variety of Andradite. Please note that under halogen lights, the crystals appear a bit ligher in color, but under mercury bulbs, the color is very intense! As you can see from the photos, the crystals are very gemmy when backlit.
