Item Description
Gemmy and lustrous, olive-green Demantoid garnet dodecahedrons are richly isolated on the sculptural, blocky, fibrous, asbestos matrix. The crystals reach 5 mm. The old asbestos mines in the area are famed for outstanding demantoid garnet specimens and this is an excellent example. A large plate with numerous small, gemmy crystals, this is a good size for any specimen from the classic locale. NOTE: THIS AUCTION ITEM IS DONATED BY DR. MARCO BOCCARDI TO BENEFIT MINDAT.
