Item Description
A cute and sculptural solid thumbnail mass of lustrous, translucent, olive-green Andradite variety Demantoid garnets from this famous extinct asbestos mine. The piece has a nice yellow-green glow, when backlit. This Malenco Valley locale is famous from exceptional gemmy green demantoid garnets. Complete all-around and pristine, there is a bit of fibrous asbestos on the base, a typical matrix. The specimen is probably from 1960s and 1970s collecting efforts. Formerly in the Erberto Tealdi Collection with label. Ex Bill Larson & his company's Pala International Garnet Collection with engraved label - which was long on the display at the Fallbrook store in the San Diego area for decades before we bought it some years ago (found it hiding in storage!). A classic, fine and demantoid cluster from the well-known locale.
