Andradite var. Demantoid

Item Description

A fine, large miniature, this piece features good examples of the well-known Demantoid Garnets from the Tubussis Farm 22, near the Erongo Mountains of Namibia. These bottle-green Andradites have the modified dodecahedral form you would hope for, and the luster and gemminess enhance the crystals. The largest Demantoid is 1.2 cm, and the way they display across the matrix creates a nice, balanced aesthetic. A choice, representative example for this locality, it is interesting that the granular matrix is rife with small Demantoids, something not often seen here, and it adds even more interest to the specimen. This was probably found in the 1980s or early 1990s.
