Andradite var: Demantoid

Item Description

Prior to obtaining this lot, I had only seen a handful of these Demantoids specimens over the years, and I always keep an eye out for them because they're some of the better Demantoids outside of Europe/Russia in the world in my mind. This small cabinet display specimen hosts a few sharp, lustrous, translucent, rich green slightly modified dodecahedral crystals of Andradite (var: Demantoid) measuring up to 6 mm with minor Chrysotile on matrix. PLEASE NOTE that these crystals show a color change from a "mint green" color to a very rich "lime green" hue in different lighting. Under halogen lights, the crystals appear more pastel, but under mercury bulbs, the color is very intense ! I love how the crystals are well-isolated and good quality. A very attractive example of this elusive rare green Garnet from an uncommon locality.
