Item Description
A RARELY small cainet sized display specimen of brilliant golden-green Andradite Garnet crystals from the Junnila Mine in San Benito County, California. This is the first specimen of this material that I've encountered, and it's fine quality to be sure. The small, glowing dodecahedral crystals measure up to abotu 3.5 mm, and have TOP luster with excellent internal gemminess. The crystals just sparkle in the light. Very little damage at all, and the crystals look beautiful up close. I am leaving this and Andradite as I don't think it's quite green enough to be called Demantoid. A great piece to add to a Garnet suite or a collection of California minerals. Valued at $1250. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9095). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
